flower_of_lions: (What was that about?)
[personal profile] flower_of_lions
I've just come back from the hospital wing. Sev has an odd story about being attacked by a stag on the grounds this morning. In all my five years at Hogwarts, I have never seen a stag or doe of any sort. I wouldn't have thought any lived in the Forbidden Forest, not with everything I've heard to live in there.

What makes it even more strange, is that he said he hadn't been doing anything. He had just been sitting by the lake, reading over his Potions notes.

I'm just glad he'll be released tomorrow. The nurse wants to keep him overnight, make sure he hasn't suffered a concussion. He's not too happy about it.

I have rounds again tonight, assigned with one of the Hufflepuff prefects. I promised Sev I'd pop in for a quick visit when I finish.

((Post enabled by Mouse, so permission assumed for use of the "stag". :'D Also, this event has apparently been influenced by this thread.))

[James is still in the common room with his book, so you might hear him laughing. He's not going to write anything back. Not just yet anyway.]

[Funny thing, she was just on her way down to do her rounds. So once she's down in the common room, she fixes James with a suspicious eye.]

What's so funny, Potter?

[James turns her book around to show her the failed private entry. When he speaks, it's hardly audible amongst his laughter.] I wondered why he wasn't in Potions!

[She just went pale for a split second before she starts turning red in anger.] How did you see that?! That was supposed to be personal!

Stupid community I guess.

[He continued laughing, closing the book and holding it close. If Lily gave it a second glance, she would see childish ducks on the cover.]

[Have a SCATHING LOOK OF CONTEMPT. And then she walks off and out the portrait hole. If he writes, she'll probably reply it when she gets back.]

I love that stag.

[8| NOT AMUSED.] They are not that mysterious, Black. If anything, there was something clearly wrong with it, attacking a person without provocation.

Maybe it was rabid! Snivellus should get all his shots, quick.

I'll have a quick word with the gamekeeper in the morning then, see if he can't find a way to put it down, if it truly is rabid.

You would murder an innocent stag without knowing for sure if it was rabid?

Did you not read all that I wrote? I did write "if it truly is rabid". If it's not rabid, then there's no reason to end its life. Honestly, Black...

Give Snivellus his shots first before you worry about any of that.

I don't understand it, myself. I always hard stags normally left humans alone unless they were intruding on their territory, but the Hogwarts grounds can hardly be defined as such.

Yes, he's fine. I just got back from checking in on him, and he'll be released in the morning.

From: [identity profile] lycanthropy-101.livejournal.com
No, it can't. And sitting there reading is hardly any sort of attack on its territory. That really is bizarre.

That's good at least, though. Stags can be really dangerous, with those hooves and antlers. Maybe it was a young one? He's lucky that a possible concussion and some cuts and bruises is all that he got from this.

It's possible, but then I have to ask where it came from to begin with. I've never seen them on the grounds before, have you?

And he is quite lucky in that regard, yes.

Not...not far enough onto the grounds that students would be able to have contact with them, no.

...do you think we should talk to Dumbledore, if this sort of thing happens again? That's really dangerous, animals just attacking people and all.

From: [identity profile] flower-of-lions.livejournal.com
I think it might be worth bringing up to him. I don't want to risk any other students getting attacked. The gamekeeper should also be informed, I think.

Alright. Next Prefect meeting, we should bring it up. Ask for people to be on the lookout for strange animal behavior. Who knows what'll happen to the next person, right? Snape is very lucky that he wasn't more seriously injured.

Just a little. I know virus memories can be a little untrustworthy, but I don't recall deer being common at Hogwarts.

I didn't think so. I suppose one could have wandered onto the grounds somehow.
