I am going to assume that this happens in the 1940's since that is the time that other fellow mentioned. That is forty years ahead in the future for me so I have no idea how much of that is the truth or hearsay invented by the Ministry to discredit me. I would not put that past them.
As to the Statute. I, for one, do not like to have to hide myself away like I am some creeping creature. I think that all magical beings should not have to pretend that we don't exist due to some ancient, out-dated fear. We should be able to freely roam where we want and perform magic where we want. The Ministry do not even give the Muggles a chance to accept us considering that they automatically erase the memory of any Muggle who even glimpses anything magical. How is that fair to either us or them?
